Let’s be honest the only meal that really matters is snack time and these chocolate almond bites are perfect no matter the time of day. The snack is packed with long lasting energy from healthy fats from the almond butter and carbohydrates from the oats. Additionally, almonds are a good source of protein and with a protein powder they can be a great snack post work out.

Keep in mind that this snack is energy dense. This means that compared to the amount of food eaten the caloric content is fairly high. Don’t let that scare you away from these. Our bodies need fat to function. But some sources of fat should be eaten more than others. There are saturated and unsaturated fats. Saturated fats are typically found from animal sources like red meats and chicken and are also found in butter or coconut products. Sources of unsaturated fats are olive and canola oil and nuts and seeds. Most of the fat in our diet should come from unsaturated fats rather than saturated. Diets too high in saturated fat have been linked to heart disease. Unsaturated fats also contain omega-3 fatty acids and have anti-inflammatory effects. These bites are packed with healthy fat from almonds. Just keep your serving to 3 or 4 bites.

These are super easy to make, they only take about 25 minutes total and are so easy to take on the go to fight mid afternoon hunger. I love switching up this recipe with chocolate chips but I honestly love these with cranberries the most. Hope that y’all enjoy these as much as I do.
